Jörg Zintzmeyer, designer and founder of Zintzmeyer & Lux, dies


Interbrand Zintzmeyer & Lux AG are deeply saddened by the news of founder, longtime CEO and Chairman Jörg Zintzmeyer`s death on Tuesday after a severe illness. 

 

"Jörg Zintzmeyer played a leading role in shaping our business, our ideas and our aspirations. We will miss him very much. He was a terrific inspiration, a truly passionate person. It was always a privilege to work with him, joining him in the process of introducing a bit of change to the world over the years. We are very grateful to have been able to learn so much from him," says Dr. Jürgen Häusler of Interbrand Central and Eastern Europe and colleague since 1991. 

 

Jörg Zintzmeyer was a pioneer in the field of corporate identity. He fundamentally changed how design, branding and brand management are perceived today. He founded Zintzmeyer & Lux, one of the foremost companies for corporate design and brand identity. He joined the global Interbrand network, a decision that highlighted his sense of entrepreneurship and his readiness to shape future developments within the Interbrand Group. He set things in motion to master the challenging demands of playing a leading role in the European market and in the international arena of brand development. 

 

Jörg Zintzmeyer was passionately interested in brands. He created a commanding appearance for some of the most famous brands. The BMW Group, Deutsche Telekom and Deutsche Lufthansa are just several of the prominent brands he guided through the brand development and corporate identity process. He also designed the current series of Swiss banknotes thus leaving his imprint on the world in the truest sense of the word. Educated as a graphic designer, Jörg Zintzmeyer went on to capture attention as a designer in Milan and London. In 1976, he founded the corporate identity consultancy Zintzmeyer & Lux. In 1996, a merger formed Interbrand Zintzmeyer & Lux paving the way for entry and integration in the worldwide Interbrand network marked by global recognition as a leader in the European market. In 2001, Zintzmeyer handed management functions over to Jürgen Häusler. In 2006, he left the Board of Interbrand Zintzmeyer & Lux to dedicate his energy to consulting and projects of special interest including protecting brands against piracy within the framework of a new company, Originize. 

 

Jörg Zintzmeyer contributed his insights, experience and knowledge to a diverse range of disciplines related to the business of branding. His wealth of ideas and expertise will be missed by the industry that he helped to shape for more than 30 years.
